In the past three weeks a couple of projects I follow have implemented AI tools with their own github accounts which have been doing exactly this. And they appear to be doing good work! Dozens of open issues iterated, tested and closed. At one point i had almost 50 notification for one projects backlog being eradicated in 24 hours. The maintainer reviewed all of it and some were not merged.
Colemak is objectively decent even if you never knew qwerty. Even if you move C V X Z you can only make a layout a tiny bit better than colemak. I don't know why you are on this crusade, its silly.
The coolest hacker-esque Pokémon ROM I've seen is InfiniteFusion [1]. Let's you combine Pokémon into original "fusions", in other words, there are over 200,000 Pokémon. Impressively well done and very fun with lots of user accessible settings like difficulty and degree of randomness. For example, this is the sprite you see in game if you have Blastizard aka Blastoise/Charizard fusion: https://www.fusiondex.org/blastoise+charizard/
