Same, looks like it's a black hole.

FYI some of the linked jobs give "The job you are looking for is no longer open.", e.g. Senior Software Engineer - Back End in Portugal

CentOS was created as open source distribution compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

It was successful as it gave most of the benefits of RHEL without the expense.

RedHat acquired CentOS, saying that it would be good for CentOS[1].

RedHat shut CentOS down.

New alternatives are coming along to take the role of a free distribution compatible with RHEL.

>RedHat acquired CentOS, saying that it would be good for CentOS[1].

>RedHat shut CentOS down.

It should be noted that six years passed between point A and point B, during which time Red Hat did invest quite a lot of additional resources in CentOS. Red Hat did not acquire CentOS and then immediately shut it down.

CentOS Stream is also not a wholly different thing from CentOS, although it is obviously not exactly the same thing.

> Case in point: the usg pro 4 is years old but they havent released an updated affordable just-the-border device.

Isn't the UniFi Gateway Lite[1] just that?

[1]: https://techspecs.ui.com/unifi/cloud-keys-gateways/uxg-lite

That device is so suspect. Old, dual core processor, 1GB of DDR3 and, supposedly, "next-gen" security features including IPS. Riiiiiight.

Barely can break 350mbps with IDs and IPS enabled and starts getting buffer overload. I'm pretty sure Mikrotik had a faster router a few years before the usg4 hit the market for about the same price.

what unifi sold people on was cloud managed easy config and it just started working somewhat in the last version for me. Really feels like they need to triple down on the software front and beef the midrange hardware.

I just looked the other day - as I'm getting symmetric 2gb fiber in a few months and unifi has some wild high end router but it seems like it needs more on the CPU and ram front still, too. OpenSense here I come?

Without necessarily defending Ubiquiti's oftentimes-weird product lineup, IDS/IPS are basically useless, so there's not much point worrying about what they do to raw WAN speed.

can you have part-time roles remotely within the EU?

Viator | All Levels | Full time | Hybrid On-site | UK, Portugal

We are growing fast and have 30 positions to fill in London, Oxford and Lisbon. We are looking for leaders and engineers at all levels from director downwards for full-stack, backend and data teams. These are hybrid roles where you will visit the office but do not need to be there full time.

The split between both locations clearly sends the message that decision making is based in the UK. You might want to address that.

I'm not sure why you think that message is being "clearly sent". I would discourage you from drawing conclusions based on the open roles with no knowledge of who is already employed in each location.

Instead, if a role is of interest to you, apply and you will get to speak to engineers from Lisbon during the process. They could answer any questions you have about where decisions are made and the autonomy of teams. I think you would be pleasantly surprised by the answers.

Alternatively, my email is in my profile. I can put you directly in touch with someone in the engineering team in Lisbon if you'd like to speak to them before speaking to a recruiter.

I'm really curious and hoping you could just clarify what you mean by "address". Is there a thing that needs to be changed? Or a message that needs to be clarified?

Lead Data Engineer - https://grnh.se/f170ae1f1us

FYI your Lead Data Engineer role and Data Engineer role are identical except for the job title and both mention Lead Data Engineer in the job description.

Carrot Weather added the "inline" view which replicates Dark Sky pretty well. [1] It's been an easy transition for me, although Carrot is more expensive.

Thanks for the mention! Weathergraph author here - any question anyone?

Well, I tried to install this on Android and was met with "unable to connect to server."

I wonder if Carrot is using the Dark Sky API.

Carrot lets you pick your data source [1]. One of the options is the Dark Sky API which is still operating until March 31 [2].

Well perhaps March 21st. Carrot seems not to be working withe Dark Sky now but does with other sources.

In the UK the DarkSky source data also appears better.

Unfortunately the MetOffce app is not good.

Maybe on Apple devices. There's no option on Android devices to choose the API. Just a button to refresh and another that gives witty replies if you press it.

I don't have an option to pick my data source. Theres just a "retry" button

Coincidentally carrot is down too
