Your "feature, not a bug" take is exactly right... the slight unpleasantness is what creates empathy

I think a big part of it is that, at some scale, leaders stop lacking access to reality and start lacking incentive to engage with it

This is like a perfect case study in how problems don't get solved, they just get… routed

The fact that showing the actual product in a product meeting triggers panic tells you everything you need to know about how far things have drifted

It does look strange when you compare it directly to a MacBook, but headphones are a weird category

Apple clearly optimized for the "always ready" experience, but it does feel awkward that the intended workflow involves putting them in the case

Putting it in or out of the case is not that big of deal (for me). However, once you take them out of the case you need to put that case somewhere, and you can't use headphone stand that was just holding them. So now I need a space for them when I don't use them and when I do use them, and it can't be the same space (in my scenario).

Does it? I haven't used the case since I bought them and don't feel like I'm missing anything.

Peat is probably the worst fuel from a carbon perspective

And Germany of all places mines huge amounts of brown coal, which is only barely not peat.

That's true to an extent, but it also sets a bar that almost no country could meet in a globalized economy

Generation technology got cheap quickly, but the grid expansion needed to support it moves at a much slower pace

The bigger issue might be whether the transition is being managed in a way that protects consumers
