The ADL is a joke of an organization. Professional bullies.

Yeah incredible. EVs are a bit questionable at the moment but I have no doubt that in 5 years they will just be straight up better than gas cars in every way.

Concerning part is that China has a massive lead in this industry, and the lone American company that can compete is being targeted by the petty regime we have in power.

Half of Tesla’s income is tax credits[0]. What more is the government supposed to do?

How is Tesla being targeted by Congress or by this Administration? I'm honestly not aware of anything nefarious going on. Isn't Tesla being helped by the 100% tariff this Administration has placed on BYD imports?

> the lone American company that can compete is being targeted by the petty regime we have in power

Are you suggesting that Tesla is struggling to compete because our government is targeting them more than, say, BYD?

You’re being vague. Are you saying Tesla is being targeted with this administration’s EV mandates? Or have they been targeted with subsidies?

Better yet, what policies do you think we should be pushing?

Nope social security money is not invested, it's just put into general revenue and spent.

I find the mental overhead of tracking categories to be extremely irritating and I have just stopped using the discover card.

Write the category name on a piece of paper, tape said paper to the card.

Repeat every quarter.

There are at least two cards with useful quarterly bonus categories.

Exactly.

The overhead is no more than swapping out the cards in the wallet every 3 months and try to remember what the categories are. That's not even necessarily if you regularly use digital payments (and of course if the merchants support that).

(And I believe most people never hit that $1500 cap in specific category. If you do, like, spending $500 on restaurant/Amazon/Costco a month is like nothing to you, ignore everything I say)

I'd say the overhead is much much lower than things like "digital coupons" offered by grocery stores -- those are truly aimed at low income shoppers who are willing to spend time doing that.

I’ve got an Amazon Visa that gives me 5% back on Amazon purchases, 2% on gas and restaurants, and 1% on everything else. Rewards redeem on Amazon so effectively as good as cash.

Is this because the discover card is otherwise less ideal to use?

Lots of places don’t take it. Their fees are higher than Visa

Fun fact the US government subsidises mail spam. It's called media mail and for some inexplicable reason is 10x cheaper than normal mail.

No, that's wrong. The media mail rate is for books and other similar media, and it specifically may not be used for advertising.

That mail comes with rules. It presorted and so even though it is a lot cheaper to mail for them, because everything is in order there is a lot less work for the mail system and so they still make money on it in general.

That’s not what media mail is. Media mail cannot contain advertising.

Well the problem is that anti-"discrimination" laws will kill that startup if that "well defined subset of consumers" doesn't have enough black people.

Same reason IQ tests are banned and credit scores are only allowed to consider like 7 factors.

As the article outlines in detail, this is definitely not the problem in this market.

I had the opposite experience actually. Windows didn't include network drivers for my custom PC mobo+chipset, while linux had them included. Actually had to download the windows drivers on linux then boot into windows and install them...

Raiffeisen is european for credit union.

I switched to pdfgear as an alternative to acrobat/dc for all my pdf needs. Free and better than acrobat.

Or you know do what lots of places already do and charge hotels/rentals a nightly fee for each tourist.

I mean, sure, that’s another example of a tourist tax. But the spending side was the bit I was interested in
