i suppose, but one reason I had no interest in math in school was I saw no practical point to a formula, and less-so for a proof. It may be a personality issue with me, compounded by less-than-engaging math education techniques, but I think a good analogy would be: I always loved legos as a kid, and programming is like grown-up legos to me :)
A.K.A. writing a proof. Isn't that what mathematicians do all day?
