At the University of Waterloo a CS degree was a Bmath degree with a CS major up until like 12 years ago, when a BCS was an option with slightly less Math courses. It was so much math I almost dropped out because I hated it, felt like no programming or real world stuff, I just kept waiting for it to get better until I finally realised this is it, it's mostly just math, that's what makes it "computer science". I grunted through it and got my degree and learned everything I use today mostly on my own. There was a good base but I've forgotten most of the math and notation now because it's mostly useless to me and I didn't like it or fully get it. Maybe that was just a UW experience as it was a highly touted math school.
TL;DR Comp Sci I took was all math so I don't get the title!
