I have a 5k iMac myself, but for my work, which is Linux based, I would rather have that wide-screen. The iMac for sure has the way better font rendering, but the real estate is that of a 27" screen. With Linux, HiDpi support isn't quite there yet - so for now the 38" screen gives you the larger desktop.

By default. A couple of clicks in Preferences will get you higher or very-high-indeed effective real estate.


10 years ago, I might have agreed to you :). But at a certain age, you are happy if you can focus on the default size resolution.
