I'm 100% okay with this aspect of Google controlling mails, etc.
The level of spam I have received has dropped precipitously because of it. For that I'm grateful. Whatever they have done has worked, and people don't seem to remember how bad it was 10 years ago. Now my email is relatively clear of spam and that's a great thing for safety and security as well.
