I still don't understand why this is surprising. Why do people continuously think that moving to another way of receiving messages will somehow help with the overload? At best it's only a short term solution, before all message faucets that are responsible for the overload eventually get migrated over.



Is slack meant to replace email? I thought it was intended as a complementary tool (having used slack, I don't see it offers much actually).


Slack's home page certainly hints at it being meant to replace email. e.g. "Instead of a single overstuffed inbox...", "Unlike email...".


They say that? Well I for one am convinced by their marketing.
