A piece of flavor text that inspired three and a half different cards (wizards.com)

While the Hans cards are funny, I really like the Krark cards. When these two newer cards were first revealed they both made me laugh. It's a welcome recurring joke. Like Fblthp[1].

I especially like how Krark's other thumb suggests Krark would lose a thumb and say "double or nothing" and then this is exactly the flavour text of Krark, the Thumbless.

I really enjoy Mark’s clearly endless love for MtG. He writes and speaks with such joy for the storylines, history, inside jokes, and fesses up to errors (occasionally). He is constantly trying to improve the game and make it grow in interesting ways. I try to bring that sort of enthusiasm to my job. I think it’s contagious.

I agree wholeheartedly! MaRo is part of what keeps me excited about Magic.

His writings about card design are educational and thought provoking. I also love his willingness to share behind the scenes anecdotes, which is something I love.

One of the things that I really appreciate about his blog posts is that they don't just cover the game design aspects like "what is a good card vs a bad card or a strong card vs a weak card", or even "How do we make cards which are intended for play in specific formats", but also product design issues like "If somebody buys a booster pack and looks through the fifteen cards they get, what do we need those fifteen cards to communicate about the unique mechanics of the set, and how do we construct a) the set and b) the booster packs to make sure this is expressed in the way we need?"

I haven't played MtG in years, but I still read Rosewater's articles weekly. He's been a big inspiration for my blog writing style over the years and I'm glad he's still at it.
