I believe this data is mostly SRTM 30m resolution. The building shape and height data is pulled from OpenStreetMaps.

Ah got it. Have you thought about trying to use a more detailed dataset that gets shadows from other obstructions as well?

I guess it highly depends on the use case but it seems to me like trees can play a big factor in the overall shade.
