The internet has always sucked. dial-up was the worst.


I mean, compared to modern broadband, it sucks because it's slow... but otherwise dialup was awesome. If only for the fact that I could choose whatever ISP I wanted, and there was lots of competition. Most things were built for slow connections, so I don't remember it being all that bad. Had my download managers all set up to download large files while I was sleeping or at school...


The Internet existed for a while before dial-up became widespread. Dial-up was what led to the term "Eternal September".


The best thing about dial-up was the sound of the data transfer. Ah! Those days!
