Yeah that seems pretty tricky. I'm somewhat convinced that the graph representation will work (it can represent the input correctly), but I'm not yet sure if it's actually useful or not for an algorithm to work through.


It needs to be in a format that you can then use existing algorithms with - the Reidemeister move being the "easiest" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reidemeister_move


Yeah that's along the lines of the transformations I was thinking of, though I only considered 2 of those...
