I don't know if it needs to be held back, but the product needs to have innovation or it's going to feel like features are being held back and put a sour taste in the community's mouth.
I get the outrage. If it's pointed at Docker's inability to productize, then bravo, but I think AWS and the other big guys deserve most of the blame for taking tons of money on the table without contributing much to the state of the ecosystem. It's just tragedy of the commons with more steps.
