It's not really that difficult to come up with a sensible rule to determine which titles should be "editorialized" (and pg could even make it site-wide) - old posts deserve a [year], video/pdf/other media posts should mention the general format of the media, posts whose title doesn't reflect their context (e.g. this mailing list email) should have their content prepended. All that is necessary is a word or two in [square brackets].
